Confirmation Guidelines

About the Sacrament

Confirmation is the sacrament by which those already baptized are enriched by the special strength of the Holy Spirit. It is typically administered during a person's adolescent years, though adults may also receive it — particularly those preparing for Marriage or returning to the faith.

Documentary Requirements

• PSA Birth Certificate (original and photocopy)
• Certificate of Baptism — from the parish where the candidate was baptized
• PSA Marriage Certificate of Parents (if applicable)
• For candidates from schools — schedule through your school in coordination with the parish
• For candidates preparing for Marriage — coordinate with the Parish Priest directly
• Certificate of Sponsorship (Ninong/Ninang) — some parishes may require this to confirm the sponsor's religious affiliation

Catechesis Program

All candidates are required to complete the parish catechesis program before being scheduled for Confirmation. This involves a series of sessions covering the faith, sacraments, and Christian living. A Proof of Attendance will be issued upon completion.

Sponsor (Ninong/Ninang) Requirements

• Must be a baptized and confirmed Catholic
• Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing
• Must be at least 16 years old
• Cannot be the same person as the Baptismal sponsor (unless a parent)

On the Day of Confirmation

• Dress modestly — white or light-colored clothing is recommended
• Bring your Baptismal Certificate on the day
• Observe proper church decorum throughout the ceremony
• The Bishop or delegated priest administers the sacrament — respect the solemnity of the celebration

Tungkol sa Sakramento

Ang Kumpirmasyon ay ang sakramentong nagbibigay ng espesyal na lakas ng Espiritu Santo sa mga nabinyagan na. Karaniwan itong ipinagdiriwang sa kabataang taon, ngunit ang mga matatanda ay maaari ring tumanggap nito — lalo na ang mga naghahanda sa Kasal o nagbabalik sa pananampalataya.

Programa ng Katekismo

Lahat ng kandidato ay kinakailangang kumpletuhin ang programa ng katekismo ng parokya bago maatasan para sa Kumpirmasyon. Kabilang dito ang isang serye ng mga sesyon na sumasaklaw sa pananampalataya, sakramento, at pamumuhay Kristiyano. Isang Patunay ng Pagdalo ang ibibigay pagkatapos ng pagkumpleto.

Mga Kinakailangan para sa Sponsor (Ninong/Ninang)

• Dapat ay binyagang at kumpirmadong Katoliko
• Dapat ay aktibong Katoliko sa mabuting katayuan
• Dapat ay hindi bababa sa 16 taong gulang
• Hindi maaaring maging parehong tao ang sponsor sa Binyag (maliban kung magulang)

Sa Araw ng Kumpirmasyon

• Magdamit nang maayos — inirerekomenda ang puti o maliwanag na kulay ng damit
• Dalhin ang inyong Baptismal Certificate sa araw ng seremonya
• Sundin ang wastong asal sa Simbahan sa buong seremonya
• Ang Obispo o itinalagang pari ang nagbibigay ng sakramento — igalang ang kabanalan ng selebrasyon
